Because I always nudge at it thinking I'm going to spend July writing something that is not questionable short porn for profit, and always realize by the end of June what a HORRIBLE idea wasting an entire month on not-porn would be.

If it helps, I envy your ability to consistently write questionable short porn? XP

To be fair, that's true of a lot of writing, even of the less questionable not-porn variety. =p

(Paid for writing is goals at some point. I mean, I did it for two short bits, but then my job ate my life for several years straight after that. I'm hoping for a bit more life/work balance and possibly ADHD treatment this time around.)

I am doing Camp NaNo with my focus on worldbuilding for an RPG; I want to flesh out the goblins. I have left it wide open about how much of that would be essays, fact-ish articles, or stories. It is allowed to include porn if I want. It is allowed to all be porn, if I am so inspired. (I'm not; I've got a weird number system based on 15s to write up, and an economy that's so different from anything in the real world that it's possible I'll have to use the whole month sorting out how it works.)

Camp NaNo strikes me as much more suited to my writing style(s) than actual NaNo, which is based on novels and which I have failed at three times.

Why not write porn (for profit) during Camp NaNo? It'd be a good additional motivator.

I've always loved your Valdemar fanfic (which can't be sold, of course, but it's still pretty awesome).

But you're right... to write for money, you have to write what people want to buy. (I've been working on the same novel for 20 years, so I know I'll never write for a living, even if people did want to buy it.)
