Some days, I write
Well, okay, I write every day thanks to 750 words. But some days, I force myself to write a few lines of fiction, no matter how random, simply so I can say I wrote something other than "blah blah blah"*.
Today was one of those days.
Ali stared out KITT's window at the desert landscape cast in silhouette by the waning moon, not dozing - not even sleepy - but lulled to her own stillness by the car's. KITT's interior was silent; nothing rattled or vibrated, what sounds his engine made didn't penetrate his interior, even the road noise of rushing air and tires was muffled down to nothing. If not for the faintest buzz of movement against her feet through the floorboard, and the landscape flickering past outside, the car might as well have been motionless and dead.
"I believe the phrase is, penny for your thoughts," KITT said, drawing her from her reverie.
Ali smiled and corrected herself. The car could have been motionless, perhaps, but "dead" wasn't an option. At least, not one she was willing to think about.
*My 750 words never LITERALLY consist of "blah blah blah".
