Posted to AO3: Indestructible. Knight Rider classic, set present-day.
And behind the cut, for those interested, the original 750 words version.
FANDOM: Knight Rider (classic)
TITLE: Indestructible
THe sleek black machine, which most would take to be a classic Trans Am, glided silently along the dark streets at impossible speeds. It didn't slow as it approached a cinderblock building. Instead, the light glowing at the nose sped up slightly, sensors taking in the building's composition, it's weak points, and the car angled itself to take advantage of the vulnerabilities it had calculated.
A heartbeat later, and with a mighty rush the car lept into the air, smashing through the corner of the building and into a large, brightly lit room. Men scattered, leaving drugs and money behind as they tried to escape the unexpected intruder.
The car still didn't slow, menacing the men as it raced around the warehouse floor. One man stumbled in its path, and for a split second, the machine hesitated, old programming warring with new. Then the man managed to scramble to his feet, out of the car's path, thus taking himself to a lower threat level and leaving the momentary indecision forgotten in the car's past.
When the car finished, the drug runners were either dead or fled, bodies lying crushed on the floor. The car backed out of the initial hole it had made, and vanished into the night.
Hours later, the car returned to its base. A man in a military uniform met him, eyes impassive as they took in the gore still splattered on the flawless black paint.
"Well done, KITT. Well done indeed."
