"Then where?" Alena rubbed a hand across her face; behind her closed eyes, she saw Santeem's storm-ravaged countryside, and the lines of worry that made her father seem even older than he was. "The prophecy says the blood of heroes - Erdrick's blood - united, is what will stop the demon."
He caught her wrist and pulled her hand down; she stared at him in surprise. "Erdrick's blood." He extended his other hand to Eight, who responded gingerly; the old man clasped their hands together. "Erdrick's blood. United." He stepped back and spread his arms, encompassing everyone with the gesture. "The blood of heroes? All of you, you fools. Do you doubt that stopping Necrosaro, stopping Rhapthorne, were feats as great as any Erdrick performed?"
"But Erdrick was…"
"A man, before he was a legend."
Clearly, a Major Reveal from the DQ8/DW*4 crossover. I just wish I knew where I was and how I got there. And who the old guy was. ::facepalm to infinity::
Really, you'd think by now I'd know that no matter how convinced I am I'll remember $major_plot_point later, I'm not going to remember it.
*Yes, Dragon Warrior IV; I can't keep the old names from crowding out the new, and also, I was not so thrilled with the pseudo-Russian accents. Torneko Taloon and Ragnar McRyan are my only concessions to the new version. Err, and they probably won't be in this anyway.
