It does have a rather life affirming effect. I'm right, they're wrong kind of thing.

My only problem with IJ is I don't have enough friends and/or comms aren't busy enough. My friends page takes days to move, which is why I end up lurking back on here feeling like its some kind of guilty secret. Just without the guilt.

I have the same problem. Plus, springkink is here, though who knows for how much longer, if LJ starts cracking down? Going to put a real damper on the Vayne/Larsa fic, that's for sure.

I think it's possible a lot are going to move. It's not good about the Vayne/Larsa, or some of the pairings I like (practically everyone in Beyblade is underage).

But I think the fandom that will have to move is going to be the HP fandom. How much underage content can you get in one place?

Personally, I think it's that lot that LJ are possibly targeting as a 'for starters'. It's big, it's ugly and totally offensive to the moral majority. Good enough reasons for LJ/SA.

Hell, practically everyone in every anime ever to come from Japan is underage. And most of the video game fandoms are iffy. And since from what they said in the post, the characters don't have to BE underage, just LOOK underage, there goes 99% of the anime/manga/game fandoms that are technically legal.

Yeah, I think HP fandom is in for it. Especially when it was pornish_pixies that really rallied fandom during strikethrough.

That's true. Everybody looks underage, because unless they're Auron or some similar character, everyone has to look eternally youthful.

pornish_pixies probably signed their own LJ death warrant with that one. Regardless of how we see them as right to do that, LJ are going to be sore over it.

Either that, or everyone gets into the Transformers fandom. I'm currently unaware of any US laws about giant fictional alien robots who are most definitely over the age of consent.

Fanon tends to be split into groups of who believes what. I write what I believe is plausible. People are welcome to think what they want of it. If some trends in fandom were to followed, I'd believe Sephiroth is controlled by Jenova and that Vincent is a vampire and his dad. Thankfully, instead, I believe that there is a fantastic crack similarity between Transformers (film) and FFVII.

The epic battle between Sephitron and Optimus Cloud would be something to see. And one day, I may inflict my crack theory on the world, well, my flist anyway. [/ramble]

Goddamnit, I don't want to leave LJ. Fandom is huge here, and having to rebuild it again elsewhere is something I just don't see happening. But, I guess we may not have a choice. Damn glad I didn't spring for that permanent account thing.

I've friended you over on IJ. I have a journal there and over on GJ under the same name. Anything that's posted here is crossposted to those places at the same time.

This is pretty much what I was anticipating when I didn't spring for a perm account. Because I think SixApart sees fandom as a liability, no matter how many paid accounts we own, and will just keep chipping at what we're allowed to post. And while rebuilding elsewhere will be a huge pain, I don't think fandom can thrive here if we're all forced into locked journals and locked comms.

The stoopid are conflating "not legally recognized" with "illegal" and asking questions like, "If I talk about gay marriage in my LJ, will you suspend me because it's not legal in some states?" And thereby making everyone who's concerned look like morons.
