I have proto-ideas that I would like to write. I have...sorta-kinda words, at least when in impractical-for-writing places like the shower.

I also have a mental block where opening a writing program = too much pressure re: quality.

Which is stupid, because a) it's porn and b) I desperately need to goose my income for October, because September has been shit. New words...any new words...will help achieve this. WE LIKE MONEY, BRAIN, Y U GOTTA BE THIS WAY?

(I have also utterly failed at writing fanfic for the past month, so this isn't just a "zomg professional writing is too much pressure" thing. Brain is just really fucking contrary atm.)

Maybe try opening up Written? Kitten! or some other in-browser thing, to try tricking the mental block? That sometimes works for me.

I don't know whether this will help, but what helps me get started on writing projects (rather than spending literally hours sitting and fiddling with fonts and settings and getting things set up Just So) is starting off any new project in Notepad (on Windows - similar style plain text editors on Mac or Linux may be suitable). It means I'm not worrying so much about the format, just about the content.

Alternatively, something I've found has really helped me build a regular habit of writing each day is starting with a small time goal - 5 minutes per day, for example - and keeping that up for a month, then increasing the amount each month in 5 minute increments. I started this late last November, and I'm now up to 30 minutes journal writing and 15 minutes work on a particular (long) piece of fanfic per day. In five minutes, I can write about 100 words on a regular basis, 10 minutes is closer to about 250, and in 15 minutes, I can get about 400 words done on a regular basis - but the thing about even 100 words a day is it's more than zero. So maybe just five minutes a day of sitting down and writing (even in a journal) might be a good start?

Ugh, I'm sorry, that's the worst.

That's sort of where I've been sitting for like, the last 18 months, writing-wise. :(

Have decided I'm going to play with my new stock art account and make a bunch of covers for kindle novels that I would totally buy and write synopsises based on cover art and then come back and write the stories later....

I read the "proto" idea and immediately thought "proto" drake. (You should totally write dragon shapeshifter porn.)

Does writing on a tablet help until the writing programs aren't so intimidating?

Money is always good.

I'm sorry writing is an issue right now. Hopefully things will settle down now?

And, ideas are ALWAYS good.

I maybe known to set a DW posting window on private and write in that, since it autosaves. Otherwise, I throw down random bits on textpad. I don't think I've opened scrivner in months. >_>;

My sympathies -- I've had a tough time writing for the last few days as well. Actually, not tough, nearly impossible. Even the ability to write Warcraft fanfic for my characters just up and ran off somewhere.
