Shards submission

Either I got the dates wrong, or the submission window has been adjusted. Not that I'm complaining; it's an extra month to finish my story.

Of course, it's ALSO an extra month to fuss over whether "hero triumphs over the villain by killing the hell out of him" is out of fashion in modern fantasy.

This is what I get for not using Facebook. :)

Well, in this case the hero happens to be a dragon, so "kill it with fire" is...a bit more literal for him than for most. I'm just not sure if I should try to find an alternate ending.

Is one ending more noblebright than the other? Or does one ending contribute more to the shards theme than the other?

Thank you! It is a closed group, but I went ahead and joined because it DOES look like a useful resource.

On the one hand, I feel like the current ending is justified; on the other, I can't remember the last time I read something that didn't have some sort of alternative to killing the villain. So I remain conflicted (for an extra month, now).

It is pretty useful. I've seen some listings I've submitted to that I wouldn't otherwise have known about.

Hmmm... could you write out both endings and read the two stories through and see which one works better?
